I sort of enjoyed this play in that it was interesting but I found it hard to understand many of the words used in that time.

The play is based on a tragedy genre, so the layout of the play is good. There should be the exact version of this, but short and easier to understand due to the issue of many people finding it hard to understand it at first unless you get a simplified version.

I'm studying the play in English and we (our class) think most people misinterperet the play. Shakespeare's audience would actually have seen Romeo as a very sinister figure and would have been quite disturbed by the events of the play rather than seeing it as the ultimate love story as a 20th/21st century audience generally do.

That is quite true
I agree with totally what your saying
It is an ultimate love story

In my opinion I believe that Romeo and Juliet rushed their relationship: they could have waited and things would have turned out differently. Indeed, patience is a virtue, the young couple hardly knew each other yet a couple of hours later they wanted to get married ! However Romeo should have waited before asking Juliet to marry him, on the other hand they may have needed to rush for the urgencey of Verona and they may have thought that it would have brought their families together. In my opinion I think that this was Tybalt's fault as if he didn't kill Mercutio, Romeo wouldn't have killed Tybalt therefore Romeo wouldn't have been banished. This also shows that Romeo rushes in his decisions and could lead us to question his love for Juliet.
